Horses Often Need A Loving Home

Somewhere to Heal

We rescue horses from a wide variety of circumstances. Neglect, abuse, injuries and illness that are unattended. When they reach a point that they can continue their journey toward healing and trust in a loving and responsibly caring home we then place them up for adoption.  These horses are available for an 'Adoption Fee' of $500.00 and this helps us toward the intake of the next rescue horse.  Our Adoption Horses also come with an Adoption Contract and require references.  Your vet is a great reference as we know they will know how you care for your animals.  We will always take back an adoption horse, we hope that they will find a stable and loving forever home, however we do know that things change and its also not easy to work through some of the issues these horses come with.  For the most part it usually works out as it is something we take our time with and as a result the match ups are usually awesome. We hope if this is a journey you choose that it is a positive and inspiring one.

Docs Statement

Thank You! Adopted by Will!

Statement is an  18yo Quarter Horse, was once a competitive cutting horse and then went on to the life of a broodmare.  Sadly due to the owner's accident she was badly neglected for 2 years. Statement is a well mannered mare, is well educated and in her day was very successful. A little shy after some 2 years of neglect with patience she will make someone a lovely quiet trail horse.  She has come back from very very poor condition and while she has some weight left to put on she is ready to start exercising and is expected to make a full recovery and be a great riding horse. Has started slowly under saddle and everything is going well.  Videos and photos have been posted to both Facebook and Instagram.

Available for an Adoption Fee of $500.00

Bob Cattin Around - 'Bobcat'

Thank You! Adopted by Steve & Gill!

Bobcat is a 15yo Quarter Horse mare that is quite shy after some years of neglect.  Bobcat is a sweet mare, non-aggressive, simply and sadly she has learnt to fear.  Our information tells us that she was a cutting horse in her youth and then went onto have quite a few palomino foals.  This has affected her health and though she has recovered from the neglect we expect that she will only be comfortable as a riding horse for a child or light/ small adult (under 60kg).

Available for an Adoption Fee of $500.00

Sugar is a well mannered mare, is well educated and in her day was very successful. A little shy after some 2 years of neglect she is a gentle and kind mare and with patience she will make someone a lovely quiet trail horse.  She has come back from very very poor condition and while she has some weight left to put on she is ready to start lightly exercising - however she is not expected to be able to carry anyone larger than a child or small adult. Is Adoption Right for You & Your Family?

Sadly a high number of horses are neglected due to so many different reasons. Some it is that the owner doesn't know any better, some get a horse without understanding the continuous ongoing costs.  People face changes in their circumstances and can no longer afford the upkeep on their horse. For many reasons horses end up in bad situations and they come to us on and off throughout the year and as their health stabilises we put them up for adoption.  We carefully screen applicants and check references and horses are paired with homes that suit that individual horse.  Like us, all horses are different.  When choosing to take an adoption horse into your life you must always remember that they come with 'baggage'.  It's not a cheap horse.  It's a horse that needs understanding, care, stability and love.  To adopt a horse you need to be flexible, to understand that it may always have some 'hang ups', that it may never be 100% sound or 'bomb proof'.  Some will be great with kids and others will not.  Some will be able to be ridden and others will not.  Adopting a horse is giving a battered soul a home, I repeat - not getting a cheap horse.
